Alaskan waters require boats that are durable and able to handle inclimate weather, travel long distances and operate in rough seas comfortably. At Black Feather Boats we realized a need in Alaska for boats that were tough, fast, stable and versatile. The result is the ChilKat 30.
It has been our vision in designing and building these boats that they be useful as rapid response vessels in oil spill containment, security applications, harbor master vessels, fire response and tenders for off-shore oil platforms and remote coastal work sites. Basically anywhere a fast, durable, stable ocean boat is needed, our boats can be a good fit. The addition of a boom reel on the aft deck could extend usefulness in spill response. With some additional reinforcement in the fore deck a .50 caliber machine gun can be mounted making the ChilKat 30 a quick and balanced port security vessel. Harbor masters will appreciate her maneuverability and towing capacity while the addition of a high capacity pump rig would make this power catamaran a solid fire response craft. Extra spacious decks along with adequate heated cabin space to get out of the wind, rain and snow makes the ChilKat 30 a quality tender boat for northern climates and an ideal diving platform for any venue.
